Information for New Patients

You can make appointments by telephone or call in to make arrangements. We are currently taking on new patients but please be aware that we do not provide any dental care under the National Health Service. If you haven’t visited the dentist for some time or it’s the first time you have considered seeing a dentist, please do call us on 01752 224880 and chat to our friendly reception team.

Our new patient examinations include understanding more about your history and the development of a dental care plan for use going forward. We will ask you about your general health and medicines being taken. (All information remains confidential). We will examine not just your teeth but your whole mouth, inside and out. During the new patient examination, your gums are checked and we’ll also screen for mouth cancer. In proposing treatment we will take account your own wishes. We will explain options and costs, so that you can make an informed choice.

Once your initial treatment is complete, we encourage you to come back to the practice at regular intervals to see that everything is going well. Your next visit can be arranged before you leave and we can send you a reminder nearer the date. Please give us a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to cancel an appointment. We may make a charge if you do not give reasonable notice.

 

Accessing our hygienists

During an initial consultation we may introduce you to Sue or Liz our dental hygienists and explain any procedures which may be required. Our Dental Hygienists are allowed to see patients without a previous referral from a dentist so if you wish to arrange an appointment directly with one of our hygienists, please contact us.

 

Special requirements

When you arrange your first appointment you’ll be encouraged to tell us if you have any special needs. Our treatment area is accessible to wheelchairs but if for any reason, you are unable to visit the surgery, we will do our best to help. If you have any worries about visiting the dentist, please do get in touch and we can help you overcome the situation.

 

Children’s examinations

We always regard children as very special patients, and do everything we can to make their visits as pleasant and positive as possible. Our main aim is to help them form good dental habits, which will prevent problems with their teeth in later life. If you haven’t had your children’s teeth checked yet or for some time, do get in touch sooner rather than later to arrange an appointment.

 

Emergency appointments

If you need to be seen urgently, telephone the surgery for advice on 01752 224880. If treatment is essential, we will do our best to arrange it within 24 hours. For emergencies out of hours, phone the practice number and you will be put in touch with our on-call dentist.
